We’re proud to announce that two Iconfactory software products have been nominated for the 2004 MacUser UK Reader Awards. xScope and IconBuilder are both nominated in the Software category under Graphic Utilities and are up against the excellent image capture utility, Snapz Pro from Ambrosia Software. The awards ceremony will be held in London, England on November 18th and our very own Dave Brasgalla and Kate England will be in attendance. Our thanks go out to MacUser’s editors for nominating us and we look forward to the event. Now, everyone keep their finger’s crossed! :-)

Update: xScope won in the Graphics Utilities category! Our thanks go out to ARTIS Software for their dedication and teamwork in bringing this winning application to Mac users everywhere.

Vectors To Full Power

Iconfactory worker Dave Brasgalla is largely associated with his photorealistic Aqua icons, but Dave likes to try out new stylistic directions as much as any of the workers. Vectra is one of his experiments that tries to create a simplified icon style that approximates Aqua sensibilities while mixing in a bit of vectorized “cuteness”. If you need a break from realism and want to add a dash of playfulness to your desktop, Vectra may be right for you! Download them now in the Showroom for the Mac, PC or as a cool Pixadex iContainer.

Panic and The Iconfactory have updated our popular icon organizational program, Pixadex to version 1.5.3. Pixadex is now compatible with CandyBar 2.0. Pixadex now supports iContainers that contain application icons and the “Send to CandyBar” functions work once again. These, plus other minor bug fixes are included in this free update for registered users. Pixadex is shareware and is available today for $18.95.

This week’s freeware icon release will spark memories for anyone who has visited Disney’s EPCOT Center theme park in Orlando, Florida. Iconfactory Foreman, Gedeon Maheux, has created a set of network volumes and hard drive icons based around the logos of the original pavilions of EPCOT. Slick and futuristic, like EPCOT itself, these glowing discs embody the spirit of the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow and look great in the OS X dock or on a PC desktop. We invite you download EPCOT Network Nodes today for Mac or PC or as a Pixadex iContainer.

Another Halloween Come and Gone

The ghosts and goblins have returned to their place of rest and kids everywhere are coming down from their sugar highs. Yep, Halloween is over once again and now our attention turns towards the end of the year and two other of our favorite holidays. We hope you enjoyed our spooky make-over this year and hope you had a fun and safe Halloween. On a side note, in case you live in the U.S. and have been living under a rock, tomorrow is election day. You’ve heard it before, but we’ll add our voice to the chorus and say “Get out and vote!”. There we said it, now on with the show.

The Curse That Halloween Forgot

Pigs are flying, hell has apparently frozen over and the Curse of the Bambino is, appropriately enough, history. Yes, the Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals to win the 2004 Championship World Series last night, something that generations of fans have not seen since 1918. The Iconfactory workers (especially the Foreman and the NewsHound) join our hands in celebration for these self-proclaimed “bunch of idiots” and savor the sweet taste of victory. After the historic comeback to beat the NY Yankees, we thought the World Series Championship wouldn’t quite measure up. Boy, were we wrong. Congrats to the Sox, their organization, the fans and all the players who came before this 2004 team who are sleeping a bit easier tonight. Whoo hoo!!

Pixelpalooza On Hiatus

We wanted to take a moment and let our visitors know that we’ve decided not to hold our annual icon design contest, Pixelpalooza, this year. The contest continues to be a success each year it is held, but it also represents huge amounts of work for the factory employees. So, we’ve decided to take a break this year and we hope you’ll understand why in the coming months. We thank you for your support on this decision and would ask you to hold email comments regarding the contest. Hopefully things will be back to normal in 2006, now back to our regularly scheduled program of icons…
