Back in May, we filed a flight plan for the future development of Twitterrific, both for iOS and the Macintosh. We’re pleased to report that the first phase, the release of Twitterrific 3 universal for iPhone and iPad, was completed in June.

After that we continued devoting development efforts to the 4.0 update to Twitterrific for Mac. As with any product that’s in development, we don’t currently have a firm release date or pricing. We can say that it will require Snow Leopard (10.6) because of some new features. We know that many of you are waiting anxiously, so we’re posting a tiny peek at the current state of Twitterrific on our desktops. Yes, the app is real and it’s going to be great!

For all of us here at the factory, 2010 has been “the year of software”. In addition to the iOS updates to Twitterrific and Pickin’ Time, we recently
released a handy iPhone utility called Take Five that automatically remembers to un-pause your music for you. It doesn’t stop there: we have several more software surprises up our sleeves, including our next major gaming title, Astronut for iPhone. A year in the making, Astronut promises to be our finest entertainment title to date. Head on over to AstronutApp.com for a sneak peek and to sign up for Twitter news updates about the game in the weeks ahead.

We’re very excited about what the upcoming release of Twitterrific has to offer and hope you stay tuned while we’re working hard to make it great. We thank you for your continued support of our efforts both on the desktop and iOS. It’s certainly a great time to be an Apple developer. Stick around, things are getting interesting!

Without a doubt, one of the best parts of Halloween is donning crazy costumes and pretending to be something we’re not. For one night we transform ourselves into spooky ghouls, superheroes or childhood favorites.

This week’s freeware release, ATV Drives, from Talos Tsui is a fun way for both you and your computer to get in the Halloween spirit. Go as the lovable Buzz or Woody from PIXAR’s Toy Story or suit up and become Marvel’s heroic defender of justice Iron Man. These bold drive icons look great on Mac or PC desktops and can also be downloaded as a handy CandyBar iContainer for easy organization and searching. They’re almost too much fun. Happy Halloween everyone!

Called in by his former student, Dr. John Seward, to assist with the mysterious illness of Lucy Westenra, vampire hunter Professor Abraham Van Helsing comes to life in this week’s eerie freeware release from Dave Brasgalla.

Hand painted on an Apple iPad with the help of Steve Sprang’s excellent application, Brushes, Van Helsing captures the essence of Stoker’s character and makes a great addition to any Mac, PC or mobile desktop. If you’re unfamiliar with Dave’s personal work, be sure to visit Pixelhuset to browse his incredible and imaginative gallery of digital paintings. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

It is that time of year again. The creepy decorations are in place, the costumes have been retrieved from the attic and the factory floor is anxiously awaiting All Hallows Eve. We would like to kick off the season with a small scary set of icons that will add a bit of the “spirit” to your desktop. Corey has cloned and then genetically modified each icon so there are versions that can live comfortably on a ghostly light or midnight dark background. Grab them quickly before they escape and terrorize the village!

Here at the Iconfactory, we can’t seem to get enough Trek. Dave Brasgalla is pleased to release the second installment of his icon series based on props for the original 60’s Star Trek series. This round includes the unforgettable “agonizer” device the evil Spock used on Chekov from the intriguing and disturbing “mirror universe”, in addition to some delicious, piping-hot space coffee – served with a smile by a beautiful yeoman, no doubt!

These icons pay tribute to the visionary designers and prop makers who worked to give Gene Roddenberry’s concepts physical form. Fans of the original Star Trek will love this small set of icons available for your Mac, PC or as a handy CandyBar iContainer. Enjoy!
