The moment the game trailer hit the web, we knew Patapon was something special. Developed originally in Japan, Patapon was released in the United States this past February for the SONY PSP platform. Players use rhythms to guide their warriors in an all-out assaults against enemies both small and large, and features bold shapes and colors. Talos’ freeware release includes many of the tribe members from the initial levels of the game and make great additions for your Mac or PC desktop. The release also includes a special Patapon desktop picture from Ged that you can use as a backdrop for the icons! Watch for even more Patapon desktops from Ged next week and don’t forget about the CandyBar iContainer that sports a custom Patapon dock for Leopard users. Have fun and remember to duck!

We Remember Stan Flack
April 14, 2008
I remember MacCentral always being a top bookmark in my early days as a serious Machead. Stan was a pioneer in the Mac journalism field and was a great friend to the Iconfactory both at the helm of the original MacCentral and in his all too short time as showrunner at MacMinute. He will be sorely missed. Dennis Sellers, his good friend and colleague and founder of Macsimum News has more details.

Macworld’s Dan Frakes Tours CandyBar
March 24, 2008
Good news for users who are still on the fence about CandyBar. Macworld’s own Dan Frakes has posted an excellent six minute video tour of CandyBar 3.1.2 and why the software is perfect for Mac icon collectors and customizers. The screen cast covers the basic ins and outs of the user interface, customizing OS X’s dock, and searching for and applying icons via the QuickDrop panel. The tour is a great way for beginners to decide if this Mac “gem”, as Dan puts it, is right for them. Head on over to Macworld for the tour then onto Panic to download CandyBar if the mood should strike you. CandyBar 3 is available for Mac OS X Leopard for $29.
