Panic and the Iconfactory have updated our newly released icon organization tool for Mac OS X, Pixadex, to version 1.1. This update addresses several commonly reported bugs including one that would cause problems on systems running in “thousands of colors”. In addition, Pixadex now fully supports the import and export of Mac-based .icns files, especially useful for developers. For a complete list of everything that is new in this release, head on over to the Pixadex homepage. Pixadex 1.1 is a free upgrade to registered users and is available today.

Introducing Pixadex!
July 14, 2003
Panic and the Iconfactory, the creative team that brought you CandyBar, has teamed up once for Pixadex. Pixadex is to icons, what Apple’s iPhoto is to images, and more. Pixadex lets you quickly import, organize and search huge numbers of icons easily. The application stores all of your icons in a single place, organized into customized collections that can be sorted and searched as well as re-exported.
Here are just some of Pixadex’s powerful features:
- Import standard Mac icons, iContainers & older IconDropper Packs
- Search against a variety of info including author, copyright and keywords
- Set any icon for CandyBar or simply drag and drop into CandyBar
- Export icons in a variety of image formats including TIFFs, PNGs and .ICNS
- Copy and paste icons onto Adobe Photoshop canvases for editing
- Set custom icons in the Finder instantly with QuickDrop
In addition, Pixadex comes complete with an exclusive iContainer – On Safari, from our very own Dave Brasgalla. These application and document replacement icons are rendered in World of Aqua style and are sure to be an instant hit with icon collectors everywhere.
Pixadex is shareware and is available today for $18.95. Registered users of our classic icon organization program, IconDropper, qualify for a $5.00 discount. We invite you to download Pixadex and try it out for yourself. This is the program icon lovers everywhere have been waiting for.

July 11, 2003
Our own Foreman, Gedeon Maheux has taken part in an interview about the process of designing and producing icons over at it-enquirer.com. If you are interested, hop on over and check it out. It provides some interesting information into just how we work here at the factory and what we go through to produce our icons.
Update: The interview seems to have been taken off-line. If anyone runs across a mirror link to it, please let us know. Thanks!

Our own Corey Marion and Craig Hockenberry have been pounding the floor at WWDC this week, soaking up Steve’s keynote, making contacts, meeting clients and learning cool new stuff. Imagine how surprised we were to see our very own Mr. Marion photographed at the Iconfactory’s WWDC booth on Apple.com. Long, hard hours with just a powerbook and a barstool to lean on, Corey you are a trooper!
