Flare’s One Year Anniversary

March 9, 2012

Flare_256

A year ago tomorrow, the Iconfactory and ARTIS Software launched Flare, our digital darkroom photo effects editor for Mac OS X. The app was met with critical and popular success and has become one of our most popular applications. Much has happened in the year since Flare launched and we wanted to take a moment to say thanks to everyone who’s helped make the app so popular.

Flare users have been experimenting with filters and presets since day one and have done some amazing things with the software. The Flare Flickr pool is a great place to get ideas for your photos and see how others are pushing the limits of what’s possible with Flare. The last twelve months have seen several point releases adding new presets, external editing with iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom and syncing preset via Dropbox. Finally, last December, Apple named Flare as one of their Best of the Mac App Store of 2011, which was quite an honor.

As we look forward to Flare’s future, we’re hard at work on the next point release, 1.3 that aims to bring several important improvements including increased stability. Apple’s planned Sandbox changes have caused unavoidable delays in shipping 1.3, but we’re now in private beta testing and hope to have it in the App Store soon. Version 1.3 will also include a few surprises we hope you’ll enjoy.

Flare for the Mac is available now from Apple’s new Mac App Store via their one-click ordering system. Ordering from the Mac App Store is quick, easy and means there are no registration codes to keep track of.

We invite you to visit FlareApp.com to learn more about the application, download free presets, browse the online users guide and more. Then head on over to the Mac App Store and pick up the digital desktop darkroom that is Flare for the Mac. Your photo is just the beginning!

Twitterrific 4.4.6 Improves Timeline Gaps

February 1, 2012

By Webmaster

We’re pleased to announce a small point update for Twitterrific, our popular Twitter client for the iPhone, iPad and Mac that makes several key usability improvements. Version 4.4.6’s most notable improvement is in the area of timeline gap handling. After long delays between refreshes, tweet gaps of several hours can appear in the timeline leaving holes that cannot easily be read. This latest version attempts to solve gaps by automatically loading the missing tweets for you, leaving you with a more complete picture of what’s being tweeted.

We’ve also added support for a 3rd party application called Summly. iPhone users who have Summly installed on their device can now tap and hold on a URL to have it sent to Summly and summarized into bite-sized chunks that are quick and easy to read. This works great for longer web articles when your time is at a premium. We hope you’ll check it out, we’ve found it quite handy.

The complete list of what’s new in Twitterrific 4.4.6 is available from the Mac and iOS version history pages, is a free update and recommended for all users of Twitterrific. Enjoy!
