Observant users of Apple’s new Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” have spotted a little bit of The Iconfactory in the new OS. That’s because our very own funkAmals and Tribal Mask icon collections come bundled for use with Tiger’s new iChat application. While running iChat in Tiger, click “Change my picture…” under the Buddies menu. This brings up the buddy picture window. Click “Choose” and select the alias to iChat icons and you’ll see our stuff. You can also get to it directly by drilling down thusly in OS X: Library/Application Support/Apple/iChat Icons.

The Chief Typist has spent some “one on one” time with our popular system monitoring utilty, iPulse, and he is happy to report that Version 2.1.2 is ready for download. This means that iPulse has been updated to work seamlessly with Apple’s new OS 10.4 “Tiger”. iPulse lets you monitor important system statistics like memory and CPU usage, network activity and a whole lot more. We are pleased to announce that CandyBar is ready for Mac OS X Tiger! This latest release supports several new Tiger-specific icons and includes an overhauled and more flexible auto-update system. If you are upgrading to Tiger you will need to download this update which is free to registered users. CandyBar 2.5 is available immediately in the workshop.

Registered users of CandyBar 2.0 need only launch the program to receive an auto-update that will make CandyBar qualified for use with Mac OS X 10.3.9. The auto-update feature was added to CandyBar in version 2 and makes keeping your CandyBar application in sync with the OS easy as pie. In case you have not heard the news this morning, Adobe announced that it is in talks to purchase Macromedia in a stock based deal for $3.4 billion dollars. Its not a done deal yet, but if it does fly we’re sure users will see many changes afoot in some of their favorite programs. Macromedia Freehand is our tool of choice here at the factory to create the iconic goodness you all know and download, and the thought of Freehand updates going the way of the Dodo is sad to say the least. All of the workers will watch with anticipation to see what rumblings go on between these two software companies and maybe, just maybe, we’ll take another look at Illustrator in the meantime. Oh boy.
