Our PC using visitors will want to note that Microsoft announced yesterday a newly discovered vulnerability related to .ICO files that affects virtually all versions of Windows. The security update is listed as “critical”, and as such, we strongly recommend that if you use a PC you patch your version of Windows against this vulnerability. If you’re a Mac user, you can ignore this warning. Thanks go out to the Chief Typist for sounding the alert and bringing this to our visitor’s attention.

Blame It On Steve!

As you may have read here last week, the workers were planning on attending the MacWorld Keynote address at our local Apple store today. However, since a certain CEO we all know seems to have become upset with all of the recent rumor mongering on the web, the web broadcast of the keynote speech will now be delayed for up to nine hours! This reminds us of the kid on the playground who takes his ball so the others can’t play, and its too bad.

Needless to say, since we were planning on being in Durham today, there will be no freeware icon release this week. Besides, we didn’t want to take the lime light away from other great companies previewing cool stuff at MacWorld, like our good friends at Panic. At any rate, we’ll see what Steve has in store for all of us, and hopefully it will be a sunny day in the school yard next time around!

We’re Back!

Our annual holiday break has ended and the workers are slowly getting back into the swing of things around the old factory. Pixel workshops are coming back up to speed and new plans are being laid, so we invite you to spend another year with us as we offer more icons, software and goodies in the days and weeks ahead. And while there is no official IF icon release this week, be sure to head on over to Dave Brasgalla’s site, Pixelhuset, to download his latest creation – Colossus. Dave has also created some nifty desktop pictures and sounds to go along with his iconic creations, so head on over and check them out. Finally, like so many other Mac faithful, we’ll be watching MacWorld San Fran with eagle eyes to see just what Steve has up his sleeve. We’ll be watching the keynote from the front row of the Apple store in Durham, NC, so maybe we’ll see you there!

As our office closes for the annual break, we want to wish everyone a happy, safe and joyous holiday season. And even though our offices are closed until January 3rd, we will still be responding to technical support and stock icons requests via email. We’ll do our best to respond to your needs in a timely fashion, we just ask that you please be patient.

We saw many changes here at the factory in 2004. We were lucky to snap up a talented new designer, David Lanham. We expanded our office space in Greensboro, brought you major updates to iPulse, IconBuilder, Pixadex and CandyBar, and moved our email, website and database servers across the country. Oh, and we somehow found time to create 41 freeware sets of icons totaling more than 890 icons. The year ahead holds even greater things in store and we hope you’ll join us for the ride. Take care everyone and happy holidays!
