A New Treat for Halloween – CandyBar 2.0, No Tricks!

Candybar_256

CandyBar, everyone’s favorite Mac OS X utility for customizing system level icons, has just been updated to version 2.0! This major update includes several of the most frequently requested features from our users, including the ability to customize the icons of installed applications as well as their associated toolbar and document icons, quick customization of volumes, an expanded selection of System icons, auto-updating, and more!

In CandyBar’s new “Applications” panel, CandyBar scans your hard drive for installed apps, then lets you drag in replacements from the Finder or from Pixadex to quickly change the app icons. An “App Extras” view allows you to examine an application’s icon contents (including toolbar icons and document icons) to quickly change those as well. As always, reverting back to original icons is quick, easy and safe too, and CandyBar is not a “haxie” or a patch that could potentially destabilize running applications.

We invite you to visit the CandyBar homepage to learn more about what’s new and to download the program. CandyBar 2.0 is shareware and is available from Panic for the low price of $12.95 USD. Registered users of CandyBar 1.0 can upgrade to version 2.0 for a pittance of $6.95. Those who registered CandyBar after September 1st, 2004 are entitled to a free upgrade.

Update: Panic has released a new version of CandyBar that includes bug fixes and minor tweaks. Version 2.0.1 is available now and is a free update to registered users of CB 2.0.

Welcome to our annual Halloween make over! Every year we let the vampires and undead out of their tombs and they somehow manage to take over the factory. We hope you enjoy the spooky look and feel and make The Iconfactory your number one stop for Halloween GUI goodies.

Your favorite dank and dark Web’s Attic is alive with the links that will take you to all things spooky on the web. Our News Hell Hound has been pressed into service by throngs of zombies to keep the page up-to-date. Actually, that’s not true, she’s relying on all of you out there to send us your holiday related URLs. So if you spot a set of Halloween icons, scary font, wallpaper or whatever, send it to us and she’s sure to get it posted in a single flap of a bat’s wing.

Let the Buyer Beware

September 30, 2004

We’ve recently become aware of a Macintosh hardware reseller website that is making use of The Iconfactory’s name without permission and listing us as a “Promotional Partner” when we are, in fact, not. We are currently investigating the situation but wanted to make it clear to potential buyers of goods that The Iconfactory does not endorse or support Mac-Discounter.com in any way. We will supply more information on this issue as it becomes available.

Update: Mac-Discounter.com has removed The Iconfactory (and other mac sites) as a promotional partner. We consider the matter closed at this time.
