Flickr’s a Wonderful Thing!

October 23, 2006

By Webmaster

Huddled over our WACOM tablets, in the soft and continuous glow of our LCD monitors, we sit and push pixels and occasionally look up and see what all the hub-bub is about. Last week was one such moment when we posted our first set of photos on Flickr.

Our Chief Typist, quite by accident, discovered that the icons in his dock spelled out ”$eXy” and wondered what other words he could make from all the various app icons on his HD. Word quickly spread to the rest of the workers and Icon Words was born. Of course, we had to share these funny arrangements with our visitors, so we created a Flickr account and posted the pictures along with some recent shots of our Nintendo Wii adventures. You can send your own funny picts of words in your OS X dock thanks to this group we created just for the occasion. Thanks for the tips Wolfgang!

We’re still Flickr noobs, but its already apparent why the site is so popular. The social networking aspect of it is addictive to say the least and browsing the thousands upon thousands of users and their images is a magnificent time waster. So if you, like us, have heard about Flickr but not bothered to check it out, pop your head up and take a look. You never know what you might find.

Keeping Up with the Foreman

October 18, 2006

By Webmaster

Our good friends over at Pixelsurgeon have published this month’s edition of their edgy podcast, Audiosurgeon which features news, reviews and exclusive music from the world of design, culture and more. Issue number 6 features a wealth of pulsing tracks that are definitely worth a listen.

Somewhere in between all this ultra-cool content lives a short interview with our own Gedeon Maheux. Ged gets a chance to talk about how the Iconfactory got started, where we are heading and the ins and outs of staying ahead of competition. The fine folks over at Pixelsurgeon did a great job of keeping Ged’s rambling answers short and sweet so for those of you willing to take the plunge, listening is not too painful. Besides how often does the Foreman get to hang out with hip UK rockers and offer his thoughts on such deep topics as the new Transformers movie? Not often we say! Check it out!

October 13, 2006

If you are a game console fan, then you know the significance of today. Yes, the sky is turning red, the seas are about to boil and the earth is about to stop spinning. Okay, so its not that important, its just the day that the new Nintendo Wii console goes on pre-order here in the US. David and Ged are off to camp out at our Greensboro GameSpot at the Target shopping plaza to pony up our $50 for a piece of gaming history. Maybe we’ll see you there, and stay tuned for pictures from the trenches (note the time of this post)!

UPDATE: David and Ged were successful! We were 3rd and 4th in line at our GameStop which had a grand total of 10 Wii’s for pre-sale. After a loooong morning of freezing temperatures and watching some hard core dudes play XBOX 360 out of the back of their SUV on their flat panel HDTV, we have arrived back at the factory with our sales receipts in hand. WooT! Pictures soon!

UPDATE II: Posted some picts of the chilly event on Flickr. Plus a video of the hard core XBOX dudes playing out of their SUV. Enjoy!
