The folks over at MyMac Magazine have been around even longer than the Iconfactory, so when their founder, Tim Robertson, invited our own Ged Maheux for an interview, we were only too happy to oblige. Ged appears this week in episode #185 and gives the skinny on everything from our month long Indy tribute, how we got started creating icons and the current state of development of Twitterrific for the iPhone. If you’re interested in what happens behind the scenes at the factory, or where we’re headed, surf on over to MyMac Magazine and check out the interview online.

WWDC Is the Place You Ought to Be!
May 19, 2008
California here we come! It’s time once again for swimming pools and movie stars, or so we’d like to think. In reality its the annual pilgrimage to San Francisco’s Moscone Center for the gathering of geeks, coders and Mac faithful that is WWDC. Thanks to the massive success of Apple’s iPhone and the related SDK program, the computer maker is reporting that for the first time in the event’s history, WWDC is sold out. Which means the lines that our own Craig Hockenberry and Corey Marion will be waiting in in the wee hours of the morning, will be even longer than usual.
WWDC should prove extremely valuable for developers looking to craft their first iPhone and iPod Touch applications. Like the rest of the Macintosh developer community, we’re anxious to hear more about Apple’s App Store and what the future may bring. In the meantime, we’ve been working diligently to bring two of our applications to Apple’s mobile platform – Twitterrific and Frenzic. Both apps have made huge strides toward running natively on these devices and if you bump into Craig or Corey at WWDC, they just might show them to you. If you’ll be attending WWDC, be sure to follow Craig and Corey’s Twitter stream to find out where they’ll be and what’s going on. Now if you’ll excuse us, the fellas are packin’ up the truck and moving to Mos-con-e!
Iconfactory To Speak at ICON5 About Icons
May 8, 2008
Watch out Big Apple, you’ve got some country folk coming your way! We’re talking of course about our invitation to speak at the annual ICON Illustration Conference to be held July 2nd-5th in New York City.
Our good friend and fellow artist, Von Glitschka managed to wrangle us from our cozy pixelated cave here in North Carolina to join him at the historic Roosevelt Hotel for a session called The Art and Science of Icon Illustration. The session promises to be chock full of tips for illustrators on the growing demand for icons and icon design in today’s digital world. David, Ged and Von will offer tips and tricks, showcase prior work and answer all your vexing icon questions.
If you are planning on attending the ICON 5 Illustration Conference in New York City or perhaps just want to stop by and say “Hi!”, then we look forward to meeting you. We’ll be sure to be on the Twitter with our experiences and schedule, so if you’re interested check out Ged & David’s Twitter streams. Get ready NYC, here we come!
Oh Give Me A Home Where the Patapon Roam!
May 3, 2008
Last week Talos released a fun set of desktop icons based on the characters from the hit SONY PSP game, Patapon, and the feedback to the set has been positively great. Now as promised, Ged has released two all new Patapon themed desktop pictures for your pleasure.
Both Patapon Gold and Patapon Aqua are dual screen releases so those of you running multiple monitors will have plenty of pixels to paste. The set also comes as handy iPhone wallpapers for those of you on the go. So if you enjoyed dressing up your computer in the graphical markings of the Patapon Tribe, head on over to the freeware page and check out the latest eye candy for your Mac or PC desktop!
