From the start, you could tell they were meant to be together. Pixadex, our intuitive and familiar icon organizer, and CandyBar, our safe and cheerful icon customization utility, always worked hand-in-hand to transform your desktop into a place you could call home. Now, thanks to the power of modern computerized technology, unthinkable magic has happened: these two apps have been joined into one!

Introducing CandyBar 3, only for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Brought to you by Panic and the Iconfactory, CandyBar 3 brings the best of CandyBar 2 and Pixadex 2 together into one powerful, new application. CandyBar, as always, lets you easily and safely customize your Leopard system icons like the trash can, volumes, and even the infamous Leopard default folders, so your desktop will be uniquely yours. And now, with Pixadex’s feature set built right into CandyBar, users can import, organize and search huge numbers of icons quickly and easily, making it super simple to find just the right icon.

But wait, there’s more! CandyBar 3 goes even further, allowing users to even customize the look of the Leopard dock, just by simply dragging and dropping new images from the Finder. Better still, specially marked iContainers, now available right here at the Iconfactory, even include built-in replacement Docks, usable with a single click. Go check them out!

With a brand new interface, 512×512 icon support, Quick Look integration in the Finder, super fast icon loading and browsing, improved smart collections, and much more, this is truly an upgrade to be reckoned with.

CandyBar 3 is available today from Panic for the low price of $29. Discount upgrade pricing is available for registered users of both CandyBar 2 and Pixadex 2. Additionally, users who purchased CandyBar 2 or Pixadex 2 on or after October 1st, 2007 qualify for a free, instant upgrade to CandyBar 3.

As an extra bonus, CandyBar 3 also includes a built-in brand new icon set, Float, from Corey Marion. Float is automatically installed on first launch, and with its clean, simple style, makes your system feel lighter than air.

We invite you to visit Panic.com for full details and to download your free trial version today!

Frenzic.com Temporarily Offline

November 23, 2007

By Webmaster

Due to some technical difficulties that just happened to strike as many of us were sitting down to our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, the Frenzic.com web server is offline. We’re working hard to get the problem fixed and get the site back up and running, but until it is, players will be unable to log in or synch their scores for the time being.

We ask you to please be patient and hang in there while we sort out these problems as quickly as possible. Thanks for your support and we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

UPDATE: Thanks to the efforts of the Chief Typist, Frenzic.com is once again back up and running. If you are not able to load the site, wait an hour or so and try again. DNS changes are propagating through the Internet. Thanks for your patience.

Leopard Gets New Folders

If you’re like us, then you probably love almost everything about Apple’s new Leopard operating system. Of course, there’s the small matter of the default folders that look like they were cut from construction paper with symbols that can barely be read even by the most eagle-eyed users. That’s where Mr. Brasgalla comes in.

Dave has worked up a brand new set of default folder replacements for Leopard that are both simple and elegant. This set also has something special built in that people will be able to enjoy in the days ahead. What that is, we can’t say just yet, but keep your eyes peeled! We invite you to head on over and download Dave’s Leopard Folders for Mac, PC or as a handy iContainer today. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Dave’s original release was missing some key folders for the Leopard OS. He’s added these in now, so if you downloaded this set before 11/26, you’ll want to grab it again.

Play Frenzic On Your iPhone (sort of)

Back in June of this year, we asked for your help in telling Apple that you wanted Frenzic for your shiny new iPhone. Thanks in part to users like yourselves, Apple announced official support for 3rd party iPhone applications on Oct. 17th. While we all wait patiently for the SDK, we’re pleased to announce that starting today, there is a way for you to get your Frenzic fix on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Thanks to the remarkable efforts of Romanian based Robert Neagu and his mad Javascript programming skills, we are happy to have been proven wrong when we said that a web version of Frenzic just wasn’t a good idea. Robert set out to optimize ARTIS Software’s game code for the Safari browser and the result is an effective demonstration of what Frenzic could be like when the native version becomes a reality. The demo is missing sound, doesn’t sync with player accounts and lacks the robust nature of the desktop version, but it’s still loads of fun to play. The demo should come in quite handy while you wait in the early morning hours of those Black Friday shopping lines and beyond. For those of you who have not given Frenzic for the Mac a try, visit Frenzic.com to download a free trial of the game that some have called the best strategy game for Mac OS X, period.

We invite you to head on over to the Frenzic Demo page on your iPhone or iPod touch to give the demo a try and find out just how awesome Frenzic is for touch-screen based play. Enjoy!

It Just Keeps Spinning!

Since the launch of Marble of Doom back on October 19th, Mac users have been faithfully logging their frustration with our shiny, spinning master. As of this writing MarbleofDoom.com has logged a total of 2 months, 2 days and a little over 11 hours of wasted time as people patiently wait to regain control of their productivity.

There seems to be conflicting reports about whether Apple’s new OS, Leopard, helps to ward off the Marble or invites it to move in with you lock, stock and barrel. Until we know for sure, there’s a fun new way to get in touch with your inner wait cursor – Marble of Doom desktop pictures!

Those of you who are gluttons for punishment can head over to MarbleofDoom.com and download the desktop pictures pack today. What better way to show the Marble how much you love it than to plaster its glossy face all over your computer desktop? Just remember we’re not responsible if you should suddenly decide to pick your Mac up and toss it out the window. Have fun!

We’re kicking November off with the long-awaited release of Twitterrific, our popular application for reading and posting to the Twitter social network. Version 3.0 of Twitterrific incorporates some of Mac users’ most commonly requested features as well as offering full compatibility with Apple’s new Leopard operating system.

Here are some of the great new things you’ll find in Twitterrific v. 3.0:

  • Direct messages and @replies are highlighted and displayed inline
  • The Dock icon displays the number of unread tweets
  • Launch URLs contained in tweets directly from the keyboard
  • Detailed explanations for Twitter errors shown inline
  • Screen names linked to user’s Twitter page
  • Plays nice with Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard
  • Much more!

Over the past few months Twitterrific has grown from a small side project to be one of the most recognizable applications in the Iconfactory’s roster of software. We are pleased to announce that starting today, development of Twitterrific is now being funded, in part, by advertisements from The Deck. The Deck reaches millions of users a month, and we are proud that Twitterrific joins such noted partners as Daring Fireball, A List Apart and Airbag Industries. Deck sponsorship means Mac users can continue to enjoy Twitterrific and all its great features, free of charge, without limitations. Those users who prefer to run Twitterrific ad-free can choose to register the program for $14.95.

Be sure to visit the Twitterrific home page to get the complete skinny on this amazing application that is taking the Macintosh Twitter community by storm. Thank you for your support.
