As Halloween draws closer, we’re pleased to bring you the latest spooky creation for your computer desktop. Every child knows the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and now the classic tale from author Washington Irving comes to life in the form of a new desktop picture from Iconfactory artist Dave Brasgalla. Ichabod Crane’s fate seems sealed as the Horseman pursues his lost head across time and into the nightmares of readers both young and old. Ride over and grab this erie image for your Mac, PC or Apple iPhone before it’s too late. And whatever you do, don’t forget to duck. Happy Halloween!

Cabel Tells All (almost)
October 24, 2007
For months, people have been writing and asking if we were going to update Pixadex, the outstanding app for collecting and organizing icons from Panic and the Iconfactory. The same question comes up when CandyBar enters the conversation and the answer to both has always been a cryptic one. That is until today. Cabel Sasser has broken the cone of silence and officially put the word out that your favorite icon apps are coming to Leopard before the end of November. For the record, they will be Leopard ONLY, so if you are not planning on upgrading anytime soon to the new OS, we suggest you grab the Tiger versions of Pixadex and CandyBar while you still can.
And while Panic works diligently to whip thousands of lines of code into shape, the factory workers are slaving away on the assembly lines to make sure our visitors have plenty of cool, 512×512 Leopard icons to play with when our software hits the street. We’ve been releasing Leopard and Vista ready sets for months, but there is still a great deal of work to be done. The best part is Mac users now get to use all those extra pixels we’ve been pushing. Oh happy day!
Surf on over to Cabel’s blog to get the full skinny on just what to expect in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for exciting developments, both at Panic and around the factory floor. We’ve got all kinds of goodies in store for you. Onward ho!
Beware the Marble of DOOM!
October 19, 2007
Forget ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night. Every mac user knows the true meaning of fear. It goes by many names: The Spinning Beachball of Death. The Marble of Doom. The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. Ok, maybe not that last one. But the OS X spinning wait cursor is well-known and well-dreaded by Mac users around the world.
Now there is a fun way for Mac users to band together, share their frustrations and take solace. Thanks to the marvel of the Internet, MarbleofDoom.com lets Mac users vent their collective annoyance at being held hostage (5 or 10 seconds at a time) by this unwanted glassy harbinger of OS X.
Photoshop hung up for almost a minute? Is Xcode showing you the beachball love? Spin on over to MarbleofDoom.com and select the appropriate application, and the time spent waiting for it to relinquish control of your system. A running total of all the time wasted is displayed for all the world to see. We’ve also included a more detailed data page where you can see how much time individual apps have contributed to the total. If misery loves company, then MarbleofDoom.com is our way of organizing one big, online therapy session for frustrated Mac users everywhere.
So don’t just powerlessly shake your fists in rage! Powerlessly shake them, then tell the world how long you were shaking them. We hope you’ll spread the word far and wide, and remember, it’s all in good fun. Enjoy!

Batman Double Whammie

Do you dare give him a home from which to plot his evil revenge? Then stand back for the companion picture to our popular Superman animated series desktop – Batman. Now Bruce can guard your desktop with this graphic title image from Batman the Animated Series. We invite you to grab both Blight and Batman in widescreen, fullscreen or iPhone format today.
