Our good friends over at Panic marked their 10th anniversary as Mac software developers today with their landmark release of Coda. Coda is a single window environment for creating websites that features built in HTML, CSS, FTP and even Terminal support. Take your favorite apps used to create websites and bring them together into one really cool piece of software and you get Coda.

We’re especially proud of our affliation with Panic since they started developing for the Mac only a short time after us. Our two companies have “grown up” together and we’ve formed a fantastic working relationship with them. Panic is the brains behind the ever popular Mac apps Pixadex and CandyBar and we’ve done the icon design for all of their apps to date. We’re pleased to say that they once again allowed us to contribute to Coda’s success via its icon suite. Its a privilege to work with people devoted to making the best software possible for the Mac, and so we just wanted to wish them the best of luck with this amazing release. If you have not checked out Coda yet, you owe it to yourself to get on over and download it today. Congrats on ten years guys, here’s to ten more going strong!

If you’ve ever wondered what goes through the brains of icon designers as they work their mojo, you are in luck. 37signals invited Iconfactory Principals Corey Marion and Dave Brasgalla to an informal Fireside Chat to discuss the state of icons and icon design. They met up online with noted icon artists Brian Brasher and Josh Williams of Firewheel Design as well as Jon Hicks of Hicks Design and Michael Schmidt of Cuban Council for a fun and informative rap.

This first in a three part series, delves into the designer’s favorite creations, thoughts about the new Adobe CS3 icon suite and more. Its a easy read that offers a glimpse into just what we do around here from day to day. If you’re a fan of pixels, design or just plain icons, you’ll enjoy it. Check it out.

‘Elfen Lied’ first premiered in Japan in July of 2004, and tells the tale of Lucy, a mutant with powers both amazing and frightening. Lucy has a split personality, one half of which is Nyu, the happy-go-lucky spirit portrayed in today’s desktop picture courtesy of Mindy. Although the series has been both praised and criticized for its odd mix of extreme violence and ultra-cuteness, fans agree its worth a look. Now a small part of ‘Elfen’ is ready to be downloaded as a cool desktop picture for your Mac or PC. Head on over and check it out!

First up is our Mac OS X monitoring utility, iPulse. iPulse lets you quickly get a feel for what Mac OS X is doing under the hood via a unified, concise interface that is completely customizable. Version 2.1.8 of iPulse fixes several bugs including reporting process information, properly displaying network statistics when disconnecting from a VPN, and localization. In addition, in the “strange coincidence” department, iPulse now supports CPU reporting on Macs with up to 8 processors as well as Leopard. iPulse 2.1.8 is a free update to registered users of iPulse and is available for $12.95.

Also being updated today is our popular client for reading and posting to the Twitter network – Twitterrific. Version 2.0 has gone through some serious improvements since its initial release as well as several important bug fixes and represents a “must have” upgrade to anyone using Twitter on the Mac.

Here are just some of the cool new features you’ll find in Twitterrific v. 2.0:

  • Tweets can be displayed inline
  • The text entry field can now be resized
  • Tweets now maintain true read/unread states
  • Twitterrific checks your spelling as you type
  • Many, many more!
